Welcome to Merrytale Wands! As an actor/choreographer by trade, I was desperate for an artistic outlet during the 2020 COVID lockdown. Theatres were closed, friends were isolated, family was far away, and the greatest comfort I found was rereading books that brought me joy- Harry Potter among them. I started making these wands as an extension of that joy, mailing them out and dropping them off at front doors to bring a little extra magic and whimsy to others who were feeling the weight of those "unprecedented times." Since then, my techniques and tools have improved. I've sold wands at various Comic Cons in the Washington DC area, created accents for wedding bouquets and centerpieces, decorations for birthday parties, and even once a Hogwarts-themed nursery! Though theatres have long since re-opened and I find myself back on stage, this simple little shop still brings me joy. I love having a way to add a little extra whimsy to the world.
